, To those that participated in Killington, this is just a friendly reminder to eat plenty of WHOLE

To those that participated in Killington, this is just a friendly reminder to eat plenty of WHOLE foods! Remember, you're not just recovering from a stressful, soul shattering, body breaking 15-30 mile race event this past weekend, but ALSO recovering from last weekend's race, and the week before that, as well as ALL the training in between, to go along with all the stressors induced from work, relationships, commute etc etc. The BEST way to combat this is to eat plenty of nutrient dense foods. SLEEP, SLEEP, and SLEEP. And relax and chill. Everything is accumulative on a cellular level. But I know for a fact that most of you will *probably* opt out for other modalities such as ice bathing, cupping, massages etc etc when a growing amount of evidence shows that these methods offer around 0 to 5% efficacy. So take of it what you will, but the real shortcut is the one that very few ever wants to take: nutrition/sleep/stress management. But a key takeaway from all this is to not to compartmentalize your OCR schedule by race events or weeks, because our biology surely doesn't. Instead look at your annual OCR calendar from beginning to end and ask yourself these questions: How will this one ULTRA or Beast affect my performance for an upcoming sprint? Or vice versa....OR should I schedule back to back competitive events? Should I hike 20 miles one week before a Beast or Ultra? etc etc....if you feel like you underperformed this weekend at Killington or any other weekend for that matter, these factors I just mentioned most likely played a key role, to go along with once again.....lack of recovery(malnourishment, lack of sleep, and stress overload) There's a reason why Johnny Luna-Lima didn't do West Virginia. We often get to see the final product when we flick through our social feeds... but we very rarely do we get the opportunity to see the process inherent in producing a stage-ready physique. We only get a snapshot. - My 'body of work' doesn't happen my chance🙅🏼 I have built my physique by objectively analysing and manipulating all the variables; my diet and it's macro breakdown, my training program and it's training volume, my lifestyle habits and sleeping patterns... they have all been factored in and accounted for. If you want to control the final outcome you need to control the variables that will influence it. - Anyone who is involved in bodybuilding and physique development will tell you that if you want success you have to be in it for the long-game, not the short-game. Prior planning prevents a poor performance and as a consequence you want to be in control of all the variables as you prepare for show day. From your programming, nutrition and posing. Everything must be accounted for and worked on over the long-term. Patience is a virtue and it often takes an extended period of time to design, develop and craft a stage-ready physique. - The final package that is brought to the stage is the by-product of a systematic plan conjured up many months, and in some cases years, in advance. That plan is then actioned through daily tasks executed every single day to a consistently high standard. Little by little, bit by bit, set after set, rep after rep. Whilst the impact of these seemingly menial tasks like meal prep, tracking, pre-hab, and mundane accessory exercises are not felt immediately, I can assure you that they do add up over time. Knowing this fact holds you accountable… even if you’re in your deep into your off-season and the destination isn’t immediately in view just yet. Not
