Holding bar shoulder or beyond shoulder width help work back, traps & shoulder muscles effectively and doesn't let focus shift majorily on forearms or biceps. You can perform chin ups with underhand grip for biceps. 2.) Rotating shoulder bit externally or keeping your scapula locked and down keeps you safe from shoulder impingement & pain. 3.) Chin crossing the bar, extending elbow fully is part of full ROM. It is done to work every upper body muscle group effectively & helps in developing strength. 4.) If you pull yourself up using elbows, it works your lats muscle effectively. Who don't want wings? When I was first introduced to a kettlebell, I immediately thought to myself - this is just a dumbbell in a different shape! It is only when I actually started using it that I realized what the difference is! While the dumbbells are used for more static and isolated exercises, the kettlebell is used for more ballistic movement. That, in my opinion, is the biggest difference between the two. In simpler words, while we mostly only target specific muscle groups with the dumbbells (e.g. triceps, biceps, delts, chest), a lot of kettlebell exercises involve the activation of multiple muscle groups. Having said that, there is no one better equipment between the dumbbell and the kettlebell. If explosive movements and spiking up that heart rate are your workout goals, then Kettlebells would be your preferred equipment. If you're looking for basic strength and fitness training, dumbbells would do the job for you. I personally enjoy a mix of both and try to incorporate as much as possible of each in my weekly workouts. And the best part is - you don't need a fancy gym membership to have access to these equipments - they barely take up any space in the house! Another kick ass Fall Boot Camp class. I am pretty sure they did enough thrusters today to last them a lifetime! (But we know they will be back!) 👿 - The one thing I want to specifically mention though is the push-up strength work I have programmed for this boot camp. Push-ups don’t come JUST from trying push-ups over and over again. They come from strengthening all the muscles needed from our pecs to our core. - It is also really important to know how each part of the push-up should feel from the negative to the positive. Tonight, they practiced positives, so starting at the bottom and trying to push to the top. I had some do them assisted where I put a band under their chest and helped them push to the top. I wanted them to feel that struggle. - Because if we don’t know how it should feel or how hard it should be and having the right technique, then we build bad habits. I told them NOT to worm and to just go as high as they could with good form, including butt tight, legs off the ground, arms at their sides.
